Hasta Karia is the shared vision of two lifelong friends. Inspired by the skilled artisans and breathtaking natural beauty of their hometown, they sought to bring the authentic craftsmanship of Southeast Asia to a wider audience.

Combining a passion for sustainable design with a deep knowledge of indigenous craftsmanship and natural materials, they sparked the creation of this unique brand.

Our Story

Taken from a Sanskrit word, “Hasta” means “hand”. “Karia” is a word play from “Karya”, which means “an artwork or creation” in Bahasa Melayu and Indonesia.

As our name suggests, we celebrate the artistry of handcrafted goods. We focus on good quality handmade products from natural materials.

Our Brand

Hasta Karia’s mission is to integrate sustainable materials and skilled artistry into the creation of unique and beautiful products that liven our customers’ homes and appeal to their fashion aesthetics.

Our products are sourced from different parts of Indonesia and Malaysia, where we work together with well-established local artisans equipped with unique skills passed down from generation to generation.

We still continue to source for various unique products from artisans across Southeast Asia to bring authentic craftsmanship into your home.

Our Mission

As our commitment to environmental sustainability, we only use natural fibers as materials for our products.

Plant fibers such as Atta/Ketak (Lygodium Circinnatum), Rattan (Calamus) and Agel leaf (Corypha Utan) are abundant in South East Asia, mainly Indonesia. They are strong and robust upon weaving and with proper care, can last a long time.

However, once discarded, they are still easily degradable, reducing impact to our environment.
